Soapstone Slabs

Soapstone’s name comes from its texture, which is soft and “soapy” to the touch. It is composed dominantly of a mineral called talc, giving the stone it’s crystalized characteristic. Historically, many cultures have had various uses for soapstone. The Inuit tribe, for example, used soapstone for carvings, while other tribes made their bowls, cooking slabs out of them. In modern times, soapstone can be applied as kitchen countertops, sinks, inlaid designs, and fireplace surrounds (because of its resistance to heat.)
